Keep the Community Informed
Display news, announcements, project updates, conservation tips, and meeting notices.
Add as many posts as needed – the page automatically displays them in reverse chronological order with the newest content first and also displays the number of posts you decide from 1 to infinity although we recommend much less than that!
You can also customize what information displays: title + publish date + excerpt, title only, title + excerpt, title + excerpt + featured image, etcetera.

How This Page Meets WCAG 2.2/2.1 AA
- Descriptive “Read More” Links (WCAG 2.4.4 Link Purpose): each “Read More” link includes a hidden aria-label that describes exactly where it leads. For example, “Read more about Summer watering rules are in effect.” Screen readers announce the full context instead of just “read more, read more, read more” for every article, eliminating confusion about which link goes where.
- Semantic List Structure (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships): posts are marked as a list (
<ul>orrole="list"), so screen readers announce “list with 3 items” before reading which helps users quickly understand how much content is in the group. - Proper Heading Hierarchy (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships, 2.4.6 Headings and Labels): this page uses a clear heading structure: H1 for the page title (“News and Information”), H2 for section titles, and each article title is marked as an H3. This creates a logical outline that screen reader users can navigate by jumping between headings so they can quickly scan all article titles by pressing the “H” key without reading every word. When we build your site, we set the appropriate heading level for each post query based on where it appears. Posts on this page use H3, but if there are no section titles, we configure them as H2 instead. Once set up, the heading level stays consistent so when you add new posts, they automatically use the correct heading level we’ve configured, maintaining WCAG compliance without any extra work on your part.
- Consistent Article Structure (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships): each post follows the same pattern: title, excerpt (optional), “Read More” link. This predictable structure helps all users, especially those using assistive technology, navigate content efficiently.
- Keyboard Navigation (WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard): navigate between articles and activate “Read More” links using only the keyboard: Tab to move forward, Tab + Enter to move backwards, and Enter to open.
- Optional Excerpts (WCAG Content Best Practice): display brief summaries under each title to give readers context before clicking, or leave excerpts blank – your choice. Either approach maintains accessibility.
